Nude In The Haus – PhotoHaus Gallery

NUDE AND FIGURE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT – Friday, September 28th at 7pm

PhotoHaus Gallery

Nude in the Haus Photography Contest and Exhibit Poster for PhotoHaus Gallery

Inspired by Dan Couto’s Naked in the House that started in Toronto in 2001, PhotoHaus Gallery organized an incredible event/contest they called Nude in the Haus.  Photographers wanting to participate submitted images from their portfolios and 12 were selected.  On September 15th, 2012 we arrived at a beautiful home in Southlands and met Mary, our model.

The rules were simple:

One photographer

One camera

One model

One 1/2 hour

24 clicks of the shutter

As a photographer that likes to explore composition and work through a pose to find the full expression, this was a tough challenge for me.  I busted out my light meter, rolled up my metaphoric sleeves and jumped in with my usual enthusiasm for collaboration.  Mary was fantastic to work with.  Even though I was the last photographer of a very long day, she was willing and energetic, bringing so much to our session together.

I’ve selected my favourites (two of which are shown above) and submitted them to the panel who are putting together the exhibition.  12 photographers showing 2 to 3 prints from their session being judged by Vancouver’s own resident photography curator, Ian MacGuffie, for a grand prize of $500.  While I do hope to win, of course, I am mostly looking forward to seeing how each artists creative vision and photographic craft will be expressed.

You should come.  There will be a bar, a DJ and fantastic nude and figure photographs.
